Special Message For An Expectant Friend

LXX: is it a conspiracy?

regulars of this blog know that our Old Testament are translated from 'a source polluted.

Indeed, the Septuagint (LXX) should be the one from which translators should work. But instead of that they are using the version of Masoretes, created much later to counter the progress of Christianity. Nothing wrong with what the Jews of that time have thought it right.

By cons, why our current translators they use this Masoretes version? Is it a conspiracy?

We think rather that, like Masoretes in their time, they believe that ... but hell is paved with good intentions ...!

Why do we insist on this Septuagint (LXX) ? Because our translations from Masoretes can become a stumbling block:

  • noting differences between the quotations of the OT in the NT (LXX), and their contents into our AT (Masoretes), many can be led to abandon the reading of the Bible, even to lose faith

  • that brings water to mill of those looking for contradictions in the Bible

  • introduced this lies in the commentaries of the NT ("Paul quoting from memory," "Pierre resumed free passage", etc.).

  • and more serious this can prevent Jews to convert: "Christians have tampered with our texts"
As you can see, the stakes are high.

Pray for Bible translators.
